For an action packed afternoon of fun and adventure, try rafting on the thrilling Barron River. Located only 20 minutes from Cairns you'll have plenty of time to enjoy other activities on the same day. The rapids on the Barron River are of grade 2-3 which means they are simple technical rapids with a need to manoeuvre the raft, which results in great rafting for first timers. But remember that experience is NOT necessary; in fact most of our clients have never been rafting before. The water flowing over the 260m high Barron Falls powers the Barron Gorge Hydro Power Station, providing guaranteed water levels all year round. Starting from below the power station we raft past giant boulders which dwalf the size of the rafts, down to the calm waters of Lake Placid. The Barron is the perfect thrill ride and it's so close to Cairns.
